Description

The Venus of Lespugue was found in southern France in 1922. This beautiful venus figurine was made of ivory about 25,000 years ago. It's about as old as the Venus of Willendorf. The figure is about 11.5 cm high. Most scientists agree that it was probably a figurine of fertility and prosperity. The extremely big breasts and bills point to it. But it is clearly derived from a different culture than the Venus of Willendorf. The woman is wearing what looks like canvas over her buttocks. Evidently throughout Europe people had the same ideas about enforcing fertility and prosperity, but different cultures had different figurines.

The color of this replica may vary.
This is a restored version. The breasts of the original are broken.
