In 2020, as a practical experiment, I built my own dolmen in the back of the garden, just like it was built 5,500 years ago.
The dolmen was built on the model of the passage graves in Ireland: a corridor that opens into a central chamber with three niches.
The niches each have a capstone and the room has a corbelled roof. The hallway also has capstones.
The cairn has curb stones and the corridor is oriented towards the sunset at the end of June.
The floor is covered with shells to keep the room dry.
